What is that green shiny thing? It is not a new menu of noodles or spaghettis, but a kind of edible seaweeds in Korea and Japan which has a green, shiny texture and kind of a sweet taste, often served in a hot soup and a cold salad.
For a hot soup: Miso soup (Japanese soup) or Miyeok guk (Korean soup: soaking dried Wakame in the soup without tofu)
For a cold salad: Tofu salad as a side dish.
Does this image remind you of something you have seen in Star trek? It looks similar to a Keiko's menu for O' Brian's breakfast that appears in the episode 12, Season 4, "The Wounded".
Actually, the seaweed is different as it seems to be like this: Dried Korean Seaweed (White seaweed/Agar agar and dried kelp/Gim or Kim in Korean/Nori in Japanese).
Sometimes it is served with a main dish.
According to the medical research, Wakame has high levels of sodium, calcium, iodine, thiamine and niacin that are important for pregnant women and it is served as a nutrition food for women after giving a birth.
Seasonings that you may add: salt, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic.
It can be served as a side dish: Seaweed salad with sesame seeds.
